Editorial Standards

Farmers make real decisions with real money based on what they read. We take that seriously.

How we write

  • We write in plain language for people who grow food, and we explain the why behind every practice.
  • We rely on extension services, peer-reviewed research, USDA NRCS guidance and experienced practitioners. Where evidence is mixed or still emerging, we say so.
  • Costs, yields and results vary by region, soil, climate and management. We label figures as typical ranges or examples, never guarantees.
  • We do not invent farms, quotes or statistics.
  • Articles are reviewed and updated as programs, prices and research change. The date on each article shows when it was last updated.

Who writes

Articles are produced by the ARA editorial team using research tools, including AI-assisted drafting, and are edited for accuracy and usefulness. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it.

Advertising and affiliate links

We may in the future earn money from sponsorships, directory memberships or affiliate links. Any paid relationship will be disclosed on the page where it appears and will never change what we recommend.

Not professional advice

Our content is educational. Check local regulations, and talk to your extension office, NRCS field office, veterinarian or a qualified advisor before making major changes to your operation.
